Sports:

Softball - We have a Co-ed softball team that starts in April and end in August. Games are on Tuesday night at 6pm or 7pm. Men’s softball team plays on Monday Night at sportscore

Basketball - We have a Men’s Basketball team, Junior High Co-ed Basketball team and a Senior High Basketball team.

Women of the ELCA

This is a community of women created in the image of God, called to discipleship in Jesus Christ and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we commit ourselves to grow in faith, affirm our gifts, support one another in our callings, engage in ministry and promote healing and wholeness in the church, society and the world. Circles meet monthly at home or at church for a Bible study, business meeting and fellowship time. Circles take turns serving at funerals, preparing Lenten and Advent meals and decorating for Christmas. WELCA also sponsors a spring and fall event for all women of the church.

Singles Ministry

STAR (Singles Together Around Rockford) meet a couple times each month for fellowship, fun, and food at Grace. This ministry is supported by Lutherans & other churches in the area. They meet Saturday evenings (twice a month) and sponsor a large dance each fall. Contact Rockford Area Lutheran Ministries or 962-4279 for details. Boomer age group (late 30's plus).

Big Band Lunch Dance

The Big Band Dance is held on the third Wednesday of each month from November through May. This ministry is an outreach program in the community that invites people to come and enjoy the sounds of the Big Band era and a meal. They enjoy the fellowship and the opportunity to dance to their favorite music. The children from Grace Preschool also share in the fun when they do the chicken dance and the hokey pokey with the seniors.

We are looking for volunteers to help at the luncheon/dance; time commitment would be from 2-4 hours. The meal is catered in and served by volunteers. The team of volunteers have as much fun as the seniors do even though they don’t dance. This is a ministry that warms your heart and makes your feet do the two-step.

Book Club

A group which has been meeting since the fall of 2004 for those who enjoy reading, socializing and meeting new friends.

Video Library

Video Library ministry was started thirteen years ago to provide Christian videos and wholesome family entertainment to Grace Lutheran members of all ages. Volunteers staff the video library each Sunday from mid-September through May. The Video Library is closed on Easter Sunday and the Sunday closest to Christmas, as well as during the summer months.

We are looking for organized and reliable volunteers who are either able to work one 45 minute shift each month or to serve on the substitute list (to be called as needed). Volunteers work one shift per month. You are expected to trade shifts or get a substitute if you are unable to work your scheduled time. There are also two meetings a year that you will be expected to attend. One meeting is in September and the other is usually in January.
